About the Soceity



The Botanical Society of Bengal, established in the year 1935, is one of the oldest and most vibrant Botanical Societies in the country to cater to the botanical needs through its various activities and regular publications of its journals amongst the botanists of the country, particularly in Eastern India. Since inception, the Botanical Society of Bengal has been continuously striving to serve the cause of botany and is forging ahead following its charter of objectives. At present, the Society has about 320 life members.

With deep sorrow and heavy hearts we regret to inform you that our Council Members of the Botanical Society of Bengal, Professor Ranjit Kumar Mallick and Dr. Anil Kumar Manna breathed their last on 22.05.2021. Their passing away is an irreparable loss for the Society and to the Scientific community at large. Their long association with the Botanical Society of Bengal and their countless contributions for the betterment of the Society is beyond words to express our gratitude and sadness at the demise of these precious souls. We express our heartfelt sorrow and pray that they may Rest In Peace, wherever they are.

Considering the present situation and mental state we are unable to arrange any condolence meeting as in the past
